Gastric botox is an endoscopic procedure in which botulinum toxin is injected into specific muscles of the stomach wall under sedation. Risks and an honest expectation
Gastric botox carries risks of temporary pain and nausea at the injection sites, heartburn, rarely injury to the stomach wall and very rarely difficulty swallowing if the toxin spreads to neighbouring muscle. Because it is performed under sedation, there is also a small but real risk to breathing and heart function.
