Overview
A Brazilian butt lift reshapes the buttock with your own fat: it is taken from the waist, abdomen and back by liposuction, purified, and injected into the subcutaneous layer, meaning above the gluteal muscle. Fat is never injected into or beneath the muscle; that rule keeps the large gluteal veins out of the cannula's reach and is the single greatest safeguard in this operation. It takes 3–4 hours under general anaesthetic and you stay one night in hospital.

Examination and volume decision
Your surgeon measures the donor areas and your buttock shape and sets the volume that can be transferred within safe limits. If the volume you want is not safe, you are told so plainly.

The operation
Fat is harvested by liposuction, purified and injected with a blunt-tipped cannula into the subcutaneous layer only, above the muscle. You then stay one night in hospital under observation.

Sitting rules and flight clearance
You are shown the compression garment and the sitting restrictions, checks are carried out, and your surgeon gives flight clearance. The programme runs 8–10 days.
Aftercare & long-term tips
Avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for the first 2–3 weeks, use a cushion under your thighs and sleep on your side. Wear the compression garment over the donor areas for 4–6 weeks, walk a little each day, and keep your weight steady for six months, since losing weight also reduces the transferred fat. Remote follow-up with photographs continues until the volume settles at 6 months.

Risks and an honest expectation
The specific and most serious risk of a BBL is fat embolism: if fat enters the gluteal veins and reaches the lungs it can be fatal. That risk is tied directly to injecting fat into or beneath the muscle, which is why fat is placed only in the subcutaneous layer above the muscle, with a blunt-tipped cannula and in controlled volumes. Fat necrosis, infection, asymmetry, uneven absorption and seroma at the donor sites can also occur. The operation is performed in a hospital with intensive care and you stay one night under observation; if the volume you ask for or your own risk profile is not safe, we do not plan the operation.
