Overview
Femto-LASIK is LASIK in which the flap is created by a femtosecond laser instead of a mechanical blade. Because the thickness and diameter of the flap can be planned to the micron, it comes out thinner and more predictable, which leaves a little more untouched corneal bed under the laser. The step that actually corrects your prescription is still the excimer laser, and both eyes are treated in one session of roughly 15 minutes.

Measurements and decision
Day one in Istanbul is topography, pachymetry, pupil and tear measurements. Your flap thickness and laser plan are calculated from those numbers.

A two-laser treatment
The femtosecond laser prepares the flap, then the excimer laser corrects your prescription. Both eyes together take about 15 minutes.

Checks and flight home

Aftercare & long-term tips
Not rubbing your eyes during the first week matters more than anything else, because the flap has not fully bedded in yet. Keep to the drop schedule, wear the night shields, and stay out of pools, the sea and saunas for two to four weeks. Share your follow-up results with an eye doctor at home and write to us with anything that concerns you.

Risks and an honest expectation
Dry eye, night glare and haloes are common in the first weeks and usually fade within one to three months. Flap folds or displacement, inflammatory cells under the flap and infection are rare but real, which is why the early checks are part of the stay rather than optional. In high prescriptions a small number of patients do not reach the target exactly and a second correction may be considered if corneal thickness allows.
