Overview
In a beard transplant, grafts are taken from the back of the scalp and placed into the cheeks, jawline, moustache or any patchy area. Beard hairs leave the skin at a very shallow angle, so the channels are cut almost parallel to the surface and mostly single-hair grafts are used to keep the edge natural. The session takes 4–6 hours and usually moves 1,500–3,000 grafts depending on the area being built.

Blood tests and beard design
On arrival day we run your bloods and draw the beard line to your facial proportions. Density and the outline are approved together in front of a mirror.

Harvest and shallow-angle placement
Grafts are taken one by one from the back of the scalp, channels are cut almost flat to the skin, and mostly single-hair grafts are placed. This takes 4–6 hours.

First wash and flight home
The first wash is done at the clinic the next day, with guidance on softening crusts on facial skin, and you are cleared to travel.
Aftercare & long-term tips
Keep your face dry for the first three days, using only the spray provided to keep the area moist, then start the washing routine. For ten days do not scratch, do not use a razor, and stay away from sport and saunas. Photo reviews follow at months three, six and ten.

Stick to soft, lukewarm foods and drinks; avoid very hot or hard items while any numbness or sensitivity settles.
First few days
Ease back into normal eating as sensitivity fades — usually within a few days.

Risks and an honest expectation
Ingrown hairs, folliculitis and occasionally small cysts can occur in the beard area, and swelling and redness in the first days are expected rather than exceptional. If channels are cut at the wrong angle the direction of growth will not look natural, which is why the drawing and angle plan are approved before surgery. Surgery may be declined in patients with a history of keloids.
